About this market
The Association for the Study of Obesity is the UK organisation dedicated to obesity research, education, prevention and treatment. The Health Service Executive sets out obesity care and weight management routes in the Republic of Ireland. Both reflect a field that spans structured programmes, clinical assessment, medication and specialist intervention.

Programmes and medication reach more than nine in ten UK locations
6,387 of the 6,675 UK locations record weight management programmes, a 95.7% share of the UK cohort. Medicated weight management appears at 6,229 of the same 6,675 locations, or 93.3%. Those two broad categories define the recorded market far more than any individual procedure.
Genetic and biomarker-based treatments appear at 2,516 of the 6,675 UK locations, or 37.7%. The four surgical and device categories each account for less than 12.0% of the same UK cohort. Adjustable gastric banding appears at 782 of 6,675 locations, or 11.7%. Gastric bypass surgery appears at 728 of 6,675, or 10.9%. Sleeve gastrectomy appears at 629 of 6,675, or 9.4%, while gastric balloons appear at 260 of 6,675, or 3.9%.
In the UK cohort, the 6,387 programme locations and 6,229 medicated weight management locations can include the same addresses. A location recording a programme can also record medication, biomarker-based treatment or surgery. The figures describe which services are present at an address. They do not describe treatment volumes or patient numbers.
Scotland has the highest UK share, while the South East has the highest volume
761 of Scotland's 18,661 tracked locations record weight management, the highest regional share at 4.1%. The South East records the largest volume, with 964 of the 6,674 UK weight management locations in the regional cut, but 964 of its 35,748 tracked locations represent a 2.7% regional share.
The West Midlands follows Scotland by share, with 619 of 19,326 tracked locations, or 3.2%. The North West records 755 of 24,292 tracked locations, or 3.1%, while London records 709 of 22,947, also 3.1%. The South East leads the regional cut with 964 weight management locations, while Scotland leads on share at 4.1% of its tracked estate.
Northern Ireland records 130 of its 6,852 tracked locations in the category, a 1.9% share. The East of England records 564 of 24,310, or 2.3%. These figures show the composition of Rare.Monitor's tracked estate. They do not measure local demand, access to treatment or quality of care.

6,675 UK locations can be filtered by treatment category and region to show where programmes, medication and specialist procedures are recorded. The same location-level view shows where a service is present, where it is absent from the tracked estate and how the mix changes from one UK region to another.
Co-tagging also connects this market to adjacent segments. Musculoskeletal provision appears at 4,127 of the 6,675 UK weight management locations, or 61.8%. Medical aesthetics appears at 1,649 of 6,675, or 24.7%. Dermatology appears at 918 of 6,675, or 13.8%. Counts cover approved, named locations with a postcode, country and eligible data source, classified under weight management. The UK regional cut was read 36 seconds later and contains 6,674 locations, one fewer than the frozen UK headline count of 6,675 locations. The Republic of Ireland is reported as a count only because 191 of its 209 locations, or 91.4%, come from one source and zero of its 209 locations match an owner record. Category and co-tag figures overlap because one location can carry more than one tag.
