Why does HC-One appear as multiple companies on the CQC register?

HC-One holds its England-registered estate through five separate CQC-registered legal entities for financing and estate-management reasons: HC-One Limited, HC-One No.1 Limited, HC-One No.2 Limited, HC-One No.3 Limited and HC-One Management Limited. Companies House filings link them all to the same corporate group. Barchester and Bupa follow the same pattern at smaller scale. Reading the CQC register flat undercounts these groups by more than a third for HC-One.

Which care home operator has the most homes in the UK?

By raw CQC-registered site count, Voyage 1 Limited leads with 250 homes in England. Those are small-site learning-disability and specialist supported-care settings averaging 7.6 beds each. HC-One's combined footprint has 219 homes averaging 59.8 beds each. Both are CQC-registered as care homes but they operate to different business models: small-site personal-care led, versus traditional purpose-built nursing homes.

What is Barchester's care home footprint in England?

Barchester runs 184 CQC-registered care homes in England with 11,636 beds combined across two legal entities: Barchester Healthcare Homes Limited (179 sites, 11,388 beds) and Barchester Hellens Limited (5 sites, 248 beds). Barchester is the most balanced national operator, present in every English region with at least 12 sites per region. The public claim of 260+ homes is consistent, with the balance sitting in the devolved nations outside CQC's remit.
